Top Organic Farms in Ibiza

The popularity of organic farms has soared of late as people are becoming educated about the nutritional, sustainable and economic benefits of eating locally sourced produce. As eating farm to fork becomes more accessible, this trend looks set to become the norm. Here’s a handful of some of the best organic markets currently leading the way on our lovely island.

1.  Can Muson

Can Muson is an ecological farm based in Santa Eulalia, selling homegrown fruit and vegetables, as well as organic produce such as fresh goats cheese, sobrasada (Majorcan sausage) and wine. This picturesque spot also offers a host of activities such a dessert making classes and paella workshops every Wednesday, and also serves up a delicious breakfast daily, which is made with 100% organic fruit, fresh eggs sourced directly from the farms chickens and complimented with coffee, tea and herbal teas. The hospitable team hosts a farm school for kids during the summer months, educating the little ones around topics of nature and sustainability.

2. Terra Masia

The islands largest organic farm belongs to the relatively new Terra Masia, based in the farmland suburbs of Santa Eulalia. The team renovated the land two years ago with a focus on bringing the farm to fork ethos to the masses, whilst reigniting the islands passion for locally sourced and homegrown produce. Their farming methods are in sync with the phases of the moon to encourage maximum fertilisation and growth, and the soil is given adequate time off to rejuvenate. The result of such an attention to detail is a flurry of colourful and nutritionally enriched produce, such as Golden Beetroot and Rainbow Chard. Stay updated for news on their special farm-to-fork dinner events and workshops.

3. Casita Verde

This eco-education centre is part of the non-profit Ibiza Ecologic Project, and showcases sustainable living and how it can be incorporated into our everyday lives. The farm and eco-centre are open every Sunday, inviting guests to experience an alternative lifestyle in which solar energy powers amenities and the food is prepared from fruit and vegetables grown onsite.

4. La Granja

For something a little more intimate, La Granja is a members-only a rural retreat that celebrates the island’s agricultural heritage. The converted farmhouse is set in biodynamic orchards and hosts a program of sessions aiming to raise awareness, connect like minded people, inspire change and promote mindfulness. From communal farming and slow-food workshops to guest lectures and guided meditation La Granja offers a great mix and actively encourages an ethos of ‘organic togetherness’. Launched in collaboration with Friends of a Farmer, the return-to-the-land concept produces homegrown fruits, vegetables, herbs and other artisanal and small-batch products, all of which is used to create delicious meals for its seasonal guests.
