5 Steps To A Healthier Living

Leading a busy life often means we forget to take care of ourselves.

We’ve made a list of 5 easy steps to incorporate into your daily routine to help you boost your wellness and activate your happiness.

1. Drink A Glass Of Water In The Morning
Your body is 72% water. One of the best things you can do for yourself upon waking up, is drinking a glass of water. Your body is  dehydrated when you first wake, so starting the day with a glass of H2O will help you rehydrate and initiate a host of great benefits. Your brain tissue is 75% water, so when you’re not fully hydrated you can easily feel tired and less productive, especially in the summer months. Water fires up your metabolism and helps your body flush out toxins so this action should become integral to kickstart your day.
2. Get Enough Sleep
A good nights sleep is incredibly important for your health. Most healthy adults need between 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to function at their best or optimum level. Apart from the obvious effects, including tiredness and mood alteration, lack of sleep is immediately linked to weight gain, depression and the greater risk of heart disease. A good rest can boost your concentration levels, overall productivity, promote creativity, and also maximise your athletic performance (in and out of the bedroom), so go ahead, snooze!
3. Stretch In The Morning
Instead of hitting the snooze button in the morning, why not use your time more wisely. Wake up and stretch your body from tip to toe and it will promptly wake you up. Stretching actively increases blood flow and provides extra oxygen for your body, giving energy for the new day ahead. This simple exercise also helps reduce stress, improve posture and reverse anxiety. Try it, regardless if it’s a light lunge through to a yoga workout you’ll be thanking us in the near future!
4. Take A Daily Walk
Having a 30-minutes walk every single day has tremendous mental and physical benefits. This effortless exercise improves your overall mood, reduces the risk of dementia and stroke, and also helps to maintain a healthy and balanced weight. Take every opportunity to have a well timed walk, especially if you have a busy schedule. Use the stairs instead of the lift, why not walk the dog a little bit longer or get off the bus a stop earlier, dump the car when possible. Simple!
5. Eat Your Greens
We’ve all heard this advice many before … and deep down we all know it’s true! It is consistently recommended to eat between 3-5 servings of vegetables per day. If you need to increase your vegetable consumption, why not start with greens. They are packed with the right nutrients to sustain your health and support your system moving forward. Eating 2 single portions will help you receive your recommended daily serving and greens are jam packed with antioxidants and key vitamins to get you a glowing skin and help detoxify your body. Go on, grab a salad!
